Happy election day, Americans!   As a black hearted Libertarian and joyful representative of the wacky vote (a responsibility I take very very seriously) I can perform my civic duty without too much heartache.  Libertarians aren't likely to take the house this year but whatever.  Nobody else is going to see 10% (or 1% even) of the vote as reason to party.  Libertarians support drug legalization, they love guns, attract conspiracy theorists, and generally dislike war (it's too expensive).  So who do you think throws the best election night party?                                                                  

You might think I'm a jerk.  That I'm making a joke of the system by gleefully throwing my vote away.  I say that the mainstream politicians do that all by themselves.  Just check out this ad Congressman Rick Renzi ran suggesting that Ellen Simon is some kind of pedophile-loving monster because of her work with the ACLU.  I'm not going to explain what the ACLU is or why they are essential to Democracy because I know you people are smarter than that.  In fact, the only folks who would be scared into voting by an ad this stupid are people who completely failed civics.  And what does that say about Renzi's respect for our oh-so-sacred system?  It says he's happy to mis-represent it so long as he can scare morons into voting his way. And he's just one example. So when I threw out my vote this morning I did it with a clear and happy concious.  This guy might be a tad jumpy and this guy might have a fondness for oddly disturbing puns (scroll to the bottom of his page and you'll see it) but these guys respect you and they respect this country.  That's more than either the Democrats or the Republicans can offer.

People who know me know that I rarely talk about politics.  I'm opinionated and crazy and I don't hate anyone enough to make them listen to my crackpot theories but there's something about getting my dorky little sticker that makes me love this process.  For all the futility and frustration it's downright cool just to see people get up and say something.  I don't think you're stupid for voting for another party (I didn't vote solely for libbies) and I'm glad you're out there, fighting the good fight despite all  the deception, confusion, and doubt. Like unicorns and faeries, it's belief that keeps the hope alive.  So thank you for voting.  Even if Tinkerbell kicks it tomorrow, I'll know you clapped your hardest.
